Lou's Diary
A little prince, not quite like the others
Hello, I am a little boy who only sees right with his heart...
Which doesn't make my parent's daily life any easier. So I'm blind and different (mentally speaking).

Welcome to Lou's blog

This blog was born in french during autumn 2003 and is now progressively being translated in your language.

New articles will therefore appear on a regular basis.

DISCLAIMER

... my apologies to the people who hadn't understood this yet, all articles on this website are created and written by myself (his dad).

Lou is currently unable to do it,, just like he is to this day unable to grasp the concept of a "computer", "internet", or to focus for a long period of time on a conversation. Only time will tell us if we manage to integrate him completely in the world in which he lives.

Therefore all stories, despite relating actual facts, are obviously biased by my interpretation of his behavior. But having known him for over five years, I don't think I'm getting it wrong.

77. Clarification ! (by Lou's dad)

I've received the following message about my blog :
Hello, I just found out about your blog which I thought was very moving. It is filled with humanity, and most likely sincerity. I have no means of knowing whether what I've read is true but you present it as such. Having said that, if Lou really does exist, I'm not sure all this is really any good for him.

Therefore it seemed important to me that I answer and publicly explain my position.
Here is my reply :

Hello,
if Lou and his handicap didn't exist, I would be as good as Orson Welles ... even though it is true that my job sort of involves story telling. Your mistrust is understandable ( given internet ) but nevertheless astonishes me.
As to whether this site is good for him or not, I would be sincerely curious to read your argument.
For your information, in case you haven't correctly read the website, Lou, besides being blind, is also mentally challenged, and I don't see how a hypothetical future "fame" could be of any harm to him. Quite the contrary if you observe the numerous awkward looks people give him or any other handicapped person in the street.
Because Lou, like any other mentally, physically, or even morally challenged person, will need others to live in this society where so little things are adapted to minorities.
In this era of "tv reality" and constant exposure of the intimacy of one or the other person, I think there is a real demand for sincerity in a world that has lost its bearings. So if I have to chose between commercial formatting and testimonials ... well my choice is made.
Finally, I am particularly surprised and moved by the numerous reactions from the people who've discovered the website. Some of them know our family, others don't, but they all seem to have learned to look at Lou differently.
In conclusion, I have only one motto in life : to learn, cultivate, meet, and respect diversity.
And I think it's the only way that one day peace may reign on Earth. No more, no less.
Impatiently waiting to read from you and cordially chat with you,

Luc Boland

Hi Luc! Of course Loulou is real. Silly person. I also understand their skepticism in the age of the internet but those of us who have come to love and adore Lou know that he is a very special little guy! I know that the reason you are primarily doing this is to allow people to look at other people who may be different in a new light. You keep doing what you have been and I will get to love my little Lou more with each passing day. Hope you are all well!
